Herndon Optimist NFL Flag Football (HONFL) is one of the sports sponsored by the Herndon Optimist Club and operates under the umbrella of the NFL Youth Football Organization. The league was started by coaches from the Herndon Optimist Youth Football (HOYF - tackle football) league to provide the football experience to more young people through a non-contact, co-ed program held in the spring. Our goal is to provide boys and girls, ages 5-17, of Northern Virginia an opportunity to play NFL flag football and learn sportsmanship, teamwork, and responsibility while having fun!

All teams have been drafted for the Spring 2012 Season. Regular season practices began the week of March 26th and are held two nights during the week, 6-7:30pm, at Hutchinson Elementary School. Regular season games began April 15th and are held on Sundays, with some make-up games held during the week nights. Playoff games will be held on Sunday June 10th and championship games will be held on Sunday June 17th. Please see our "Events Calendar" for more details and updates throughout the season.
